Nice to meet you — so excited to have more people joining this thread, seriously because community building is everything in these spaces and I'm always looking for new connections with like-minded folks who are genuinely invested in the shared goals we all came here for. Speaking of goals though my grandmother had this thing where she wrote down one goal every morning on a sticky note and put it on her bathroom mirror, which sounds simple but honestly changed everything because consistency matters so much more than intensity most people don't realize that — there was this time when I was in college and I tried to learn Portuguese in like two weeks straight for eighteen hours a day and by the fourth night my head felt like it was going to explode from just staring at grammar tables, which is exactly what my grandma would have told me not to do. She'd say 'Chris honey you can't build a house in an afternoon,' which made perfect sense even though she never actually learned Portuguese herself and her main hobby was baking lemon bars for the entire neighborhood every Tuesday regardless of whether anyone asked or if it had rained — remember that one time when I visited her and there were about forty people at her kitchen counter all eating lemon bars on a Tuesday while my cousins were arguing about what to do with their college applications in the backyard? That's the kind of energy this thread has, I think, where everyone brings something different but it all comes together. Anyway sorry for rambling so much — just really looking forward to seeing your insights and learning alongside you as we go through the course material over the next few weeks!

Hey Chris — welcome to the group! So glad you made it. I actually have some thoughts on this since Denver has been a home base for me too, though my time there was shorter than yours probably because of that one summer when everything went sideways with the apartment situation and I had to move in about three weeks but anyway let me tell you something — there's this small coffee shop on Colfax near where 16th crosses that has the best cold brew I've ever tasted and if you haven't been yet it'll change your life literally because they do a batch process overnight with these specific beans from an Ethiopian farm that is just remarkable and my friend Sarah used to go there every single morning before her design job which she ended up leaving anyway to open a pottery studio in Boulder which was totally impulsive but also somehow worked out perfectly for everyone involved including me since I started going there instead of the place closer to my office and honestly if you're new to Denver that coffee shop is an essential visit because everything else compares poorly by contrast

Denver is great — Rocky Mountains on your weekend trips, plenty of breweries, really good food scene, but honestly what I was thinking about when reading this thread is how different communities form through shared interests versus geographic ones and it made me think back to a summer in my twenties where I moved to San Francisco for a job I hated and ended up making the best friends of my life through a woodworking meetup because everyone there also happened to be an amateur carpenter on the weekends which seems like a strange coincidence but that's how communities work, they coalesce around shared activities even when you don't expect them to, and it makes me wonder what your Denver community is going to look like — do people connect over hiking or are there craft groups too? I used to make chairs in my basement for about two years before the fire hazard became an issue with all the sawdust and the neighbors got concerned which was actually a nice gesture because they brought me sandwiches while the smoke cleared, but anyway that's not really relevant to your post except as a tangent on how people meet each other.
