Meet Your New Neighbor - Apartment 4B!

Hi everyone, I just moved into the building and wanted to introduce myself since we're all part of this community now even though technically "community" implies something more than sharing a mailbox in an apartment complex where half the people don't make eye contact — which is fine because sometimes not making eye contact is actually very healthy and boundaries are important, although I personally think that friendliness is underrated and you should always assume someone wants to be your friend until proven otherwise by their actions or lack thereof. My grandmother used to say exactly this about her gardening club even though she was the least friendly person in the entire town of Oak Creek which had its own peculiar social hierarchy where people competed over who could grow the tallest zucchini — I remember one year Mr. Henderson's gourd literally broke through his porch ceiling and he claimed it as a victory while Mrs. Higgins just glared at him from across her patio like she was plotting something sinister which is probably what she was because those women had no chill whatsoever about vegetable cultivation standards. Anyway, I moved here for work but I'm also looking to get involved in local groups or find some good coffee spots since my current routine involves drinking whatever the vending machine gives me and that is a form of self-sabotage that deserves intervention from someone who has been living here longer than three weeks — so if anyone has recommendations for cafes, book clubs, or even just knows where to buy decent houseplants that won't die immediately I would be extremely grateful because my last cactus had a tragic end involving an accidental vacuum incident.
