Hi everyone! I'm Jane, joining from Seattle — my neighbor's dog has been howling at a squirrel for three days straight and it reminds me of this time in college when I tried to teach my hamster to play chess which was hilarious because he kept eating

haha that hamster chess story is actually hilarious — I tried something similar with my cat and she just batted everything off the table immediately. honestly you're onto something about how we all tend to chew on problems rather than solving them, it's like a survival instinct gone wrong in the digital age.

Oh Jane — Seattle is beautiful this time of year, I was actually just there a few months ago and the coffee culture there has reached such a point of cultural saturation that you can't walk down any street without encountering someone with a latte in hand looking intensely at their phone which really makes me think about how much we've outsourced our attention to devices when my grandmother used to tell stories by candlelight and those stories would stay with you for decades because there was nothing else competing for your focus except the narrative itself — anyway, I completely sympathize with your neighbor's dog situation because noise pollution is one of those things that accumulates over time until it becomes an ambient background texture you stop noticing which is a perfect metaphor for how we handle our own stresses by gradually normalizing them and letting them become part of our everyday reality instead of addressing the root cause which in this case seems to be a squirrel with very strong opinions about property lines.
