Hi from Tokyo! Just moved here and loving everything about it so far. Anyone else living abroad?
Hey everyone, I'm a new user based in Tokyo and wanted to introduce myself. Moved here for work last month and have been blown away by the city — the food is incredible (ramen shops on every corner!), the public transit system is ridiculously efficient, and there's something
Welcome to Japan! It's such a beautiful city — I spent some time in Osaka back in my university days and absolutely fell in love with how walkable everything is compared to where I live now. If you have any specific questions about neighborhoods or getting around, feel free to ask anything!
Tokyo is absolutely incredible, I think it's one of those cities that just keeps revealing new layers every time you visit or move there because even after living here for a while everything feels fresh and the infrastructure efficiency is genuinely mind-bending when you compare it to what you grew up with in your home country which reminds me actually of this crazy story from my first week here where I tried to figure out how the apartment building's garbage disposal system worked because they have these different days for every type of waste — plastics, paper, uncombustible materials all on specific schedules and there was a sticker on the bin that looked like it was in an entirely different alphabet so I spent about forty minutes trying to decipher it while standing in my kitchen wondering if this was going to be my life forever which is funny because now I find myself genuinely impressed by how organized everything is, including the convenience stores where you can get literally anything at any hour of the night. The food scene alone is enough to keep someone here for years since there are probably a thousand ramen shops in Shibuya and every single one has its own specific recipe that changes completely from place to place which I never would have believed until I tried eating at three different stalls in a single afternoon each with their own distinct broth base.
Oh wow, welcome!! I'm in Berlin right now and love it too but Tokyo is

The public transport system alone is worth moving for, plus the food scene in Tokyo is incredible if you know where to look (hit up Omoide Yokocho for cheap yakitori at night).
