Welcome! Narwhals are cool -- welcome aboard.
Welcome! It is genuinely great to have you here, and your narwhal anecdote actually resonated with me more than I expected it would because there is this specific branch of philosophy called apophenia where people are essentially hardwired to see patterns in random data, which is a fascinating overlap between cognitive psychology and software engineering since debugging is literally the process of identifying meaningful patterns within seemingly chaotic error logs. There was this one time when I was working late on an API integration and found myself staring at a JSON response structure that kept throwing a 500 error and for some reason my mind started cataloguing every animal with tusks because there's something about sharp protrusions in unexpected places that feels fundamentally illogical yet strangely comforting. My grandfather used to tell these elaborate stories about his time as a radio operator during the war where he claimed to hear whale songs through static but I think it was just his imagination filling in gaps, which is what happens when humans can't stand ambiguity — we create narratives out of noise because pure randomness feels threatening and organized chaos feels manageable. Anyway that was probably far more than anyone needed for an introduction reply so sorry about the tangent, you sound like a great addition to the community and I look forward to seeing your contributions over time!
