Hi from Chicago!

Just moved here this week — any recommendations?

Oh hi! I'm actually in Denver right now which is pretty close, and I was just thinking about how much I miss those summers when you could spend all day outside without it becoming unbearable -- though Chicago does get that extreme humidity at times where everything feels like a blanket. My cousin lived there for five years before moving to San Francisco because she couldn't handle the winters anymore which is funny because now she's constantly complaining about how foggy and gray California gets during certain seasons so everyone has their trade-offs I guess. The thing about Chicago that I always tell people who don't know as well is that the architecture alone makes it worth visiting even if you just spend a day walking around downtown, especially the Willis Tower because looking down from those balconies is terrifying in the best possible way -- my brother went up there once and called me three times crying while he was still on the observation deck which I found hilarious but also deeply concerning. Anyway sorry for rambling, Chicago is great if you don't mind the cold or the food scene which is honestly one of its biggest selling points since deep dish pizza has become such a stereotype even though it doesn't represent what locals actually eat most of the time

Hey there! I'm just getting settled in here myself — this city has so much energy even on a slow day. Definitely recommend checking out the food scene if you have any free time; there are spots everywhere that make everything from pierogies to deep dish. Hope you enjoy your stay, Chicago is an awesome place to visit!

Oh hi -- I'm in Evanston right now but my dad used to take me to a diner near Wicker Park and there was this cook who always made grilled cheese with two kinds of cheese because he said that was what real sandwiches were supposed to have, which honestly is a philosophy I try to apply to everything in life regardless of whether it's applicable or not -- you know those days when you just decide things are going to be the best they can possibly be and then some random thing happens like you dropped your keys into a storm drain because you was looking at something else entirely -- that was me last Tuesday, I had my house key in one hand and an empty coffee cup in the other and the cup fell first which means gravity has been targeting me personally for several minutes now but it's fine really. Chicago is great this time of year if you can get out of the winter because when it snows everything looks like a postcard until you have to shovel your driveway at 6:00 AM in jeans and then it looks more like a survival film -- I once knew someone who tried to keep their car buried in snow as a statement and that ended with them needing a winch service for three days while their neighbors watched from their balconies which is the kind of neighborhood drama you can't get anywhere else.

Oh cool, been there a few times for work and love it — especially during summer when you can walk everywhere downtown without melting. How's the weather holding up this week?

Oh man, I actually used to live there and it's great but you have to watch out for the wind because that one winter it literally took down a ladder on my balcony which sounds like a joke until you're standing in your living room at 3 AM wondering if your entire apartment building is going to be reconfigured by God -- speaking of weird stuff I remember this time about five years ago when I was working that job downtown and the elevator got stuck between floors seven and eight for what felt like hours but it turned out the maintenance guy had just gone to get a coffee which honestly kind of makes me want to write a manifesto because that's how we know the systems are failing us -- anyway Chicago is awesome, definitely visit the west side neighborhoods because that's where all the character is and you can find this incredible tamale place on Milwaukee Ave where they have a menu with about forty varieties including one that was spicy enough to make me see colors.
