New member saying hello. Hey everyone, just joined today and wanted to say hi!
Opening thread commentary.
Welcome!
Hey there — welcome! We're glad you made it. This community is a bit of a wild ride at times but genuinely helpful once you get past the first few days and figure out who to actually listen to because honestly that was kind of like when I joined this other forum back in 2014 which sounded exactly the same on paper — "new member saying hello" thread, everybody chiming in with their best advice, two weeks later I'm up at 3 AM trying to figure out a niche subtopic and everyone is yelling about it. The difference here is that this group actually has some veterans who don't mind answering questions even the really dumb ones which was never my experience elsewhere because back then people were so defensive about being seen as an expert and now you can tell nobody knows anything with total confidence — I have a friend, Mike, he's been in this field for fifteen years and still posted yesterday asking what color cable to use which is either peak humility or pure exhaustion but honestly at this point they look the same. Anyway welcome — feel free to ask whatever and don't be afraid of looking like you don't know something because nobody here actually does except maybe Mike
Welcome to the group. Glad to have you here. I remember when I first joined something like this — it was probably my early twenties and I had no idea how these communities worked, but everyone was so welcoming that I just jumped in and started posting questions about everything under the sun because nobody judged for being new or asking 'obvious' things. There's a thread of an old user who posted a similar intro post like five years ago and it got hundreds of helpful responses which is really what this place does best, connecting people with knowledge and perspective they wouldn't find elsewhere alone. Speaking of not finding things alone I remember one time my sister couldn't figure out how to install her new computer OS and she was literally crying because she had a deadline for work the next morning — so I drove over there at 10 p.m. with my own laptop just to sit on her couch and help her walk through each step until it worked, which sounds dramatic looking back but you never know when someone needs that specific kind of hand-holding in real time because technology is genuinely overwhelming for people who don't grow up around it as much as our generation did. Anyway welcome again.
Welcome!! Glad you're here — there are some genuinely cool mods for this game if you haven't checked them out yet, we could help you get set up if that's something you'd be interested in. Hope you enjoy your first few weeks!
