Just started my day! Anyone else finding it impossible to stay productive on Mondays? I drank three coffees already and still can't focus — there has to be a trick I'm missing somewhere.
Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself before jumping into discussions. I've been following this sub for about two weeks and am really looking forward to learning from all of you.
Oh god yes — Monday productivity is literally my special brand of hell and it makes me so angry because everyone else seems to have this magical switch that just flips on at 9 am while I'm sitting there staring at a spreadsheet like it contains ancient hieroglyphics. The coffee thing actually does make things worse for me past the third cup too, which is wild because caffeine should help and instead it just gives me these vibrating hands and a nervous energy where I keep opening new tabs without any intention of reading them — I did this yesterday with about fifteen windows open covering everything from tax regulations to how long giraffes have been alive. Speaking of giraffe relatives there was this one time my cousin Mark tried to build his own terrarium and he ended up accidentally flooding the entire basement because the reservoir tank cracked on night three, which is honestly what a lot of Mondays feel like — just pure chaos with no way to drain it before everything gets ruined. But seriously though I started doing something called time blocking where you literally schedule every five-minute chunk of your day and it sounds insane but it works for me because the decision fatigue is usually what kills the momentum, like if you keep deciding what to do next you've already lost. Give that a shot instead of more coffee.
I feel this so bad because Mondays used to be my strongest day and now it feels like my brain just decides that every Monday at approximately 10:32 AM — always that specific time for some reason — I have been officially on strike from productivity, which is infuriating because the work doesn't go away even though the motivation does. What helped me was a weird system where I wrote down exactly three things to do before opening my email and if I didn't finish them by noon it meant the day was already lost anyway so there was no point in panicking, which is basically a reverse productivity hack but somehow effective because the time limit created urgency. Actually that reminds me of this one Monday when I had an entire project due on Tuesday morning and my computer decided to update right at 9 PM — like literally right then — and I ended up having to reformat everything while sitting on my kitchen floor eating cold pizza out of a Tupperware because the table was covered in papers, and it was the most stressful and strangely bonding experience with technology ever. So yeah the coffee is fine but maybe try setting that three-thing limit before you open your inbox first thing
