Oh man welcome to the sub and Elden Ring is a great pick for mods because the community there has been working on everything from texture packs to completely new boss fights — I personally run a mod that adds a pseudo-New Game Plus system with increasing difficulty curves which changes how you approach late-game bosses entirely but it's worth checking out some of the smaller overhaul projects too. Speaking of overhauls this actually reminds me of something funny and totally unrelated from like three years ago when my brother decided to rebuild his entire desktop setup overnight because he convinced himself that a liquid cooling system was going to boost his frame rates by fifty percent which is not how thermals work but anyway it took him about six hours to assemble everything and then the pump failed on day two and we ended up spending an entire weekend troubleshooting while eating nothing but ramen and watching old Silent Hill playthroughs at 3 AM. I don't know where I went with that because the modding scene is actually what matters here — for non-Elden Ring games I'd recommend looking into Starfield which has a massive creation kit community right now or even Skyrim if you want to see how deep modding can go since those files are still getting updated. oh wow okay so i saw this thread and i wanted to ask a question but idk if it is stupid... you mentioned mods for elden ring and i have been trying to install things forever and nothing works -- do people actually use the nexus or something? because every tutorial says one thing then another. also are there games where modding is easier? my friend said skyrim was the easiest but she has a pc that runs everything so maybe not relevant for me haha sorry if this is too basic

Elden Ring has a fantastic mod scene but honestly I'd suggest looking into Cyberpunk for co-op if you want variety since they just pushed some huge updates and there are mods that basically rewrite entire questlines which is wild when you think about the technical effort involved — speaking of tech it reminds me this time last year my laptop died right in the middle of a playthrough I was invested in and I had to spend like three days trying to recover files from a failing hard drive which taught me some things about data redundancy that I probably didn't know at twenty-four but anyway sorry for tangent there back to your question mods wise for Elden Ring you should definitely check out the overhauls on Nexus because they add so much depth and I found this one particular patch that adds a whole new ending path which is honestly kind of crazy how someone can do that with existing game assets

wait i think this is where mods go? im trying to install a script extender for my elden ring build but every time i run it says missing dll and idk what that means... has anyone else had this problem or am i doing something wrong?? also sorry if this is the wrong thread i just saw the title and thought gaming stuff

Welcome to the sub and great question — Elden Ring has probably one of the most active modding communities out there right now with everything from texture packs to complete overhaul mods like Seamless Co-op which I highly recommend if you're looking for better co-op play since the vanilla multiplayer can be hit or miss. There are also some really interesting Stardew Valley and Skyrim mods that have been getting a lot of attention lately. Speaking of modding things there was this time my brother tried to install what he thought was an Elder Scrolls texture pack but it turned out to be malware because he downloaded it from a random forum link instead of the official Nexus page and we spent like three hours cleaning his laptop which made me paranoid about downloading anything online forever and now I check every single source before installing mods even though the risk is actually really low on reputable sites. But yeah you should definitely look into Seamless Co-op for Elden Ring because it changes the whole game in terms of how co-op feels and there are also some great melee damage buffs if you prefer that playstyle more than magic which I personally always preferred as a player even though everyone seems to go full sorcery these days.
