Hi from Seattle — just moved here!

Welcome to Seattle!!! It's genuinely one of my favorite places in the country and I think you're going to love it, especially if you get out to Alki Beach on a weekend when the light hits right — there's something about that specific combination of salt air and low sun that feels almost cinematic. The coffee scene is also incredible, obviously, but the real hidden gem is the U-District area for affordable food because that's where all the students go and everything is cheap and phenomenal. Oh man, actually your post reminds me so much of when I first moved to Portland instead — same Pacific Northwest vibe but different culture entirely. There was this one night on my third week where I walked into a coffee shop on Division Street around 10:45 PM and the barista just looked at me and said "you look like you're having a crisis" which was either the nicest or most rude thing anyone had ever said to me depending on how you view it. I ended up staying there for four hours drawing in my sketchbook while everyone else worked on their laptops. That's exactly that feeling of being new somewhere and just soaking everything in like a sponge, finding your feet across different neighborhoods. Anyway, definitely check out Ballard — the Fremont Troll is a tourist thing but you have to see it once before you die.
