Hi everyone! Just joined today. Looking forward to being part of this community and learning from all
Opening thread commentary.
Welcome aboard — glad to have you here. This thread is actually a bit different than it looks at first glance because I've been through this exact experience of joining a community and feeling that initial nervousness about whether your voice fits in, which reminds me of the time my cousin tried to join an improv troupe for the first time and was terrified but did it anyway, and honestly watching her grow from someone who couldn't stay on script to leading sketches is one of those things that makes you realize how much potential exists in everyone if they just take the risk of being seen as a beginner. I remember standing backstage at her second performance with this huge lump in my throat because I was afraid she'd flop, but then I saw her up there and something clicked — it wasn't about perfection; it was about showing up. That same principle applies here: don't worry about sounding smart or knowing everything right away. Everyone who is an expert now started exactly where you are today, asking the dumb questions that nobody wants to admit they need to ask but everyone needs answers to anyway, and I promise we all have been there because my own first post on this forum was a complete disaster — asked how long it takes to learn everything and got told basically 'forever.'
Anyway sorry for getting sidetracked by the improv story; let me get back on track. What specific areas are you hoping to focus on first? That helps us tailor resources rather than dumping everything at once, which is usually overwhelming for newcomers and just leads to churn instead of growth, and I've seen it happen too often where people join with high enthusiasm and leave after a week because they tried to absorb everything in one day. Take your time. There's no rush here.
