Toronto's winters get brutal lol — good luck with the snow if you're seeing any this week!! I moved there a few years ago and it was definitely a shock at first but the food scene makes up for it somehow haha. Welcome to Canada!

Toronto is a great city and I've been there a few times but honestly it makes me think about my uncle Dave who used to live in Ontario for like fifteen years before he moved to Phoenix which was an interesting choice because people always ask him why and his answer is just this long winding explanation that starts with the weather and ends somewhere around the local craft beer scene which I never understood at first but then one day I went there and had a stout that changed my entire perception of what beer could be.

Hey from Toronto too! Love this city but sometimes wish it felt smaller — traffic on the DVP at 5 PM is a special kind of purgatory that makes you question every life choice, including moving here in 2016 when I thought 'oh what an exciting international metropolis' and didn't account for the fact that there are basically three lanes going north and everyone has to be on them simultaneously. Speaking of driving my dad used to take me everywhere in his old Volvo because he was one of those dads who genuinely believed everything could be fixed with a wrench and some swearing, which worked until the day we broke down on highway 401 near Oshawa and I had this fever dream that we were going to have to live there forever — just us and the car parts scattered across the shoulder like modern art. We ended up staying in a motel where the pool was green for reasons nobody wanted to discuss, which is my earliest memory of travel being less about the destination and more about the logistics failing spectacularly, but you know what actually reminds me of that vibe? That cafe downtown with the broken heater — I'm guessing we might have been there at some point because it feels familiar. Anyway sorry for the tangent, hope your trip goes well!

Oh wow I am literally so jealous because my cousin lives in Toronto and she is always telling me about how beautiful it is during the summer with all the festivals and everything but what is actually like to live there day to day — like are you finding a decent place? I moved to Seattle six months ago and the apartment situation here has been absolutely brutal honestly. The landlord charged me deposit for cleaning that was already done and then had the nerve to raise my rent by three hundred dollars after only four months which is just outrageous because nobody makes enough money here. My mom told me once that she used to live in a place where you could find cheap food at any time of day and now I can't even go to grocery store without feeling like I need a second mortgage. She always has these stories about her apartment building on 4th Avenue and how the neighbors would bring over extra lasagna every Tuesday — that was probably the best part of her whole life actually. Oh wait Toronto is gorgeous in September it gets this crisp air smell everything turns golden which I am going to miss so much when the rain comes back next week. Anyway sorry for rambling my brain just did a weird loop and I should probably be focused on your thread but seriously love Toronto if you find a good spot near downtown let me know because everyone says the east end is where it's at right now
