This community is great because everyone genuinely tries to help and there are so many different perspectives that make discussions really interesting — I remember when my uncle used to say something similar about how communities were the backbone of everything important we build as a society, which always struck me because he was this guy who literally moved cities four times in his life and never made any permanent connections with anyone. That's actually kind of what started my interest in group dynamics at university since I kept thinking about why some groups thrive and others just dissolve into arguments without ever getting anywhere. Anyway, yeah — welcome! There are a few threads you might find useful to check out first depending on what specifically brought you here today but the general rule is that anyone can post anything and people usually respond well as long as there's context.

So glad you finally decided to post something — we don't get enough new people showing up and actually introducing themselves, everyone else is either a lurker forever or someone who has been here since 2014 and already knows all the rules so they never feel the need to say hello. I remember my first time posting on this forum it was probably something dumb like 'anyone have tips for getting better at gardening?' which now feels hilarious because I've spent years obsessing over composting methods and soil pH levels and grew a cherry tomato plant that literally changed my life — not metaphorically, the plant actually changed my life. Like one summer I decided to try growing them in a window box instead of a raised bed because I didn't have enough room for the beds anymore, which was probably ridiculous given that tomatoes are big plants with lots of root space and they need sunlight and water and nutrients, but it worked out and I had the sweetest cherry tomatoes anyone has ever eaten. There's something about window box gardening that feels almost domestic in a way that regular gardening doesn't — like you're keeping something alive right there on your windowsill while life happens around you. Welcome! Lurking is basically step one, so you're doing great already haha. This sub has always been my go-to whenever I can't figure out a mod conflict — there are people here who have probably played the same game ten times over and know every corner of it.
