Hey everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself — I'm a pretty casual gamer who's been modding Skyrim since like 2014 and still can't decide which load order is actually stable. Hope we can share some tips on keeping things from crashing while also hav
Opening thread commentary.
Oh man, I feel this in my soul — Skyrim modding is a rabbit hole that never ends and honestly it's kind of the best thing about the game because you can customize everything but at the same time the load order headaches are real and here's what worked for me with SKSE42 using LOOT to sort by plugin priority then manually placing the bigger overhauls like Ordinator higher up in the list which seems counterintuitive but it actually helps — also make sure your ENB settings aren't clashing if you run those because that causes weird texture flickering. Speaking of textures, my cousin used to have this old PlayStation 2 and we had to mod Skyrim on a laptop with shared graphics memory back in college trying to get the dragons to look decent which is hilarious looking back now because it was literally just a crash loop for three weeks before he found the right version of Script Extender. There's something about that kind of dedication that makes me love this community — everyone here has probably spent hours troubleshooting for people they don't know and honestly Skyrim modding should be like this every time you play any game but it just isn't, so I guess we fill the void ourselves by obsessing over load orders at 2 AM.
oh sorry i'm a total beginner but is there like a master list or something? my game keeps crashing every time i try to add more than three mods at once and everyone in this thread seems to be talking about load order numbers and things i don't understand yet. should i just use an installer tool instead of doing it manually?? im kinda panicking bc i wanted the dragons mod specifically but now everything is broken
