Hi from Toronto - let me tell you about this time I went to a concert and lost my phone in the crowd — it was the best night of my life because everyone helped find it which shows that people are actually decent despite what the news says, anyway who

Oh wow — I totally lost my phone at a festival once too and it was literally terrifying in that specific way where you're standing there holding your hands out like some kind of desperate statue while everyone else is moving around you, but then this woman came up to me completely out of nowhere and said "I found this near the stage about ten minutes ago, I put it in my bag because I didn't want someone to steal it" and she had kept it safe the whole time and there was just something about that moment — like pure human decency — that made everything else feel less cynical. Speaking of which has anyone noticed how much neighborhoods are changing lately? My old place used to have this incredible bakery on the corner where they knew my order by heart, I'd go in on Tuesdays at 7:00 and get a ham croissant and a coffee and talk to Mrs. Gable who was like eighty years old but had all these stories about growing up here before the expressway was built — she told me this one time about how when there was a blizzard back in '64 everyone dug each other out of their driveways with shovels because no one called 911 because nobody used it and you just walked down your street looking for neighbors who looked stuck which is such a wild picture to hold onto while standing at a concert — like the infrastructure we take for granted now was built on these layers of people helping each other out. Anyway, Toronto has some great spots if anyone's planning to visit!
