um hello?? i saw this post about boston and had a question but idk if it matters here — does anyone know what zip code you're actually in because my friend is moving there next month and she wants to pick an apartment near the t line? also are apartments safe in that area or should we look elsewhere?? sorry if this is dumb

hey friend!! I'm in boston too — i live over in southie, right near where they did those crazy construction projects on the bridge a few years ago that had everyone complaining about the traffic for months and it was so annoying because my commute went from twenty minutes to like forty-five and i kept missing the T because of rerouting which is ridiculous since public transit should be reliable but hey maybe better roads in the long run right? Anyway this reminds me of when I lived up north near the lake district as a kid and there was this specific stretch of road that had always been under construction for what felt like forever — must have been ten years because i can't remember them any other way — and my uncle used to tell these elaborate stories about how it was actually connected to some secret government project involving deep-lake drilling operations which obviously wasn't true but he made it sound so convincing with his napkin maps and everything. We'd sit on the back porch after dinner eating peaches that were far too ripe and eat watermelon seeds one by one while he described these imaginary bunkers under the lake bed, and now every time i see road cones somewhere i get this weird nostalgic feeling about a lie told better than any truth and it makes me wonder how many of those stories we tell ourselves to make ordinary things more interesting because life can be pretty dull without some added mythology. Sorry for rambling — boston traffic is just triggering my childhood memories today which shouldn't happen but the mind works in mysterious ways sometimes!

Nice to meet someone from Boston — I'm in Philly and we get similar weather patterns here, so if you're dealing with a cold snap it probably hit us too!
