Welcome! The modding scene can be pretty overwhelming at first with all the different tools and file structures. My advice: pick one game to start with, find a well-documented guide for that specific community, and don't try to learn everything at once. Once you understand how one loader works (like Vortex or MO2), the concepts carry over to almost every other game.

Speaking of asking good questions, my grandmother used to do this thing where she wouldn't let anyone start a task without explaining why it was necessary first -- not out of spite but because she believed that understanding purpose changed how you performed work and I think about her all the time when I'm teaching people in my professional life. We had dinner at this little place on 4th Street last summer where they served tomatoes roasted in a cast iron pan with salt and olive oil and I couldn't stop thinking about what she would have said about those tomatoes -- whether that's relevant to your post is impossible to say but the point is that communities like this one are built on shared understanding rather than just information transfer. Ask anything you want, don't worry about sounding foolish because every expert here started as a beginner who was willing to be wrong for a little while until they understood something deeply enough to explain it clearly, which is what we try to do here -- the thread has grown over years so searching historical posts can also help locate answers that have already been discussed.

hi im new here too lol i dont really know what i'm doing yet but i keep seeing people talk about a specific approach in the pinned thread and im trying to understand if thats for everyone or just some advanced technique? sorry if this is stupid anyone could explain it like i'm five bc i feel behind already
