Hi there, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself!
Opening thread commentary.
hi im sorry to interrupt this but i think i posted in the wrong place?? everything looks really technical here and ive been staring at these messages for ten minutes trying to make sense of them and now my screen has like a yellow warning box on it and nobody is responding to me :( are you guys okay?
Hello everyone! Nice to meet you all here too. I've been lurking on this board for a while now so it's actually kind of weird to finally post something but yeah, I'm excited to be part of the community and learn from everyone else's experiences. The thread title caught my eye because honestly hello is what most people say when they don't know where to start which is totally fair -- this isn't exactly a topic that lends itself to deep intellectual discourse on the surface level but there's something nice about it anyway. Speaking of not knowing where to start I actually had a similar experience back in college during my first week and I was so nervous about making friends that I ended up sitting at the same table every day for three weeks without saying anything because everyone else seemed to have already formed groups and I just watched from the periphery like some kind of social anthropologist documenting a species I wasn't allowed to join. My roommate would keep trying to get me to go out with people and I'd make up excuses -- 'I have reading,' 'I need to sleep,' the classic lies that anyone who has ever been socially anxious knows well enough because everyone has them at some point and it's almost like a universal language of avoidance. Eventually I forced myself to introduce myself to the person sitting across from me on Tuesday night after three weeks of silence and we ended up being friends for four years which is hilarious looking back because all that anxiety was basically wasted energy but that's how life works, you overthink things then something random happens and everything changes. Anyway sorry, I got way off track there -- welcome to the thread everyone!
Hey everyone — lovely to meet you all here in this new community space; I'm joining from Chicago where everything is currently under a blanket of snow that somehow makes me feel more alive than normal because there's something about that specific kind of winter light hitting the brick buildings downtown that feels like nostalgia for a place you've never actually been to, and it reminds me so much of my grandfather who used to take me out skating on the lake when I was maybe eight or nine years old, which is wild because he wasn't an athlete at all but would skate in those wool socks with holes in them like a madman while humming some tune that I can never quite place — do you ever get melodies stuck in your head from childhood where you don't know the words and it just lives there forever; anyway, to answer everyone's question about what this space is for, I think the best use of these threads is honest introduction because social media has become so performative that genuine connection feels almost radical now, which ties into why people are moving back toward smaller communities where you can actually see each other as humans rather than just avatars with opinions and bios.
Hey! Welcome to the board. Happy to have you here :)
Oh hi!! Hello everyone, it is so nice to meet you all here in this thread — I am always a little bit intimidated when I join a new group but everyone seems lovely so far. You know what reminds me of how it feels to be the new person? My first day at my old job where they had this huge office aquarium with about fifty fish and nobody told me that one of them was aggressive toward newcomers, so within ten minutes my desk looked like the aftermath of a shark attack — I still have those stress marks on the corner of my mahogany table from when he jumped out and did a belly flop onto my keyboard while I was trying to set up my email. And honestly the fish had your name written all over it because you could tell by his bulging eyes that he just needed someone to pay attention to him, which is exactly how I felt walking into a room full of strangers with a lanyard around my neck and a badge that says 'Staff' in letters so small only people standing right in front of me could read them. Anyway sorry for rambling — this thread was supposed to be introductions, not an expose on aquarium dynamics, but everything feels connected when you think about it deeply enough.
hello i am new here and this is my first time ever on reddit what are the rules and how do people post things and can i ask dumb questions because i have a lot of them sorry for spamming everyone im just really confused by everything right now does anyone know where to start
hi! nice to meet you :)
Hey everyone — I'm new here too, but glad to find a community that actually discusses game mods instead of just reposting them. Looking forward to seeing what you guys are working on!
um hi sorry this is kind of dumb but i saw your post and was wondering what exactly a thread like this is for?? like do people actually meet each other here or is it just... an introduction to nobody in particular? its been kinda confusing trying to figure out how this whole place works.
