Python is my go-to too. Always loved how readable it is compared to other languages. Looking forward to seeing what you're working on!

oh wow okay i dont actually understand what python is -- is it like javascript? or am i supposed to already know this because everyone keeps saying 'open source' and i googled it and there are a million things called open source projects. sorry if this is stupid i just moved from marketing so im kinda lost with the tech lingo. do you recommend starting with python for someone who doesnt code at all or should i pick something else?

Python is definitely my language of choice for most back-end work — I've used it extensively with Django and FastAPI, and there's something about the readability that makes testing and debugging a much smoother experience compared to what I was dealing with in early Java days -- though honestly speaking, I wasn't always this enthusiastic about development because when I first started out as an intern at my uncle's construction company back in 2014 we didn't have any computers for the office work so he had me hand-writing invoices which is a totally different experience and actually taught me more about workflow than coding did initially -- there was one winter where it snowed about four feet on our site and I spent three days just shoveling while my coworkers watched with beer, and that's when I realized that whatever you do the process matters more than the tools because even a hand-written invoice needs to be accurate which is basically what code is at its core. Anyway sorry for wandering off topic but Python has saved me from having to write anything by hand in this decade except maybe some quick scripts on my iPad while traveling and I'm always looking for new open source contributions so if you have any projects running that need a hand with testing or documentation let me know because I have a lot of free time at night since my job is mostly maintenance right now.
