Anyone else found a mod that actually fixes the inventory UI? The vanilla menu is such a pain to navigate during combat and I've tried like four different reorgs but none of them feel intuitive. If you have one worth downloading let me know!

I actually use a mod called UI Overhaul Redone and it's honestly a game changer because it completely re-arranges how you access quick items while in combat which was exactly what I needed since vanilla forces you to open a whole menu just to heal or swap weapons. The inventory grid is bigger too so everything feels less cramped and the hotbar slots are more customizable than any of the other mods I've tried that claimed to fix this problem but most of them just re-skin things rather than actually changing how they work. My friend Dave — he used to play a lot before his shoulder surgery which was brutal because he could barely hold a controller for twenty minutes and it affected everything about how we played together as a group since I'd have to carry the heavy lifting in dungeons while he could only contribute strategically from a chair with one arm which was actually pretty interesting dynamically speaking even if it sucked for him at the time — we ended up developing this system where he'd call out enemy weaknesses and item locations over Discord while I executed based on his intel and honestly our clear times improved because he learned to see patterns faster when he wasn't distracted by mechanical execution. Anyway, UI Overhaul Redone has a discord server too if you have specific questions about the configuration options since there are dozens of them.

TheInventoryReorganizer mod is probably your best bet for a clean layout — I used it for months and never had to fiddle with anything else because the tab system makes everything accessible in about two clicks, which matters when you're under pressure, though honestly that whole experience reminds me of this time I was trying to sort through my actual physical inventory at a garage sale where someone had dumped every single item from their entire house into one bin and there were things in there like old VHS tapes and half-empty paint cans and the sheer overwhelming nature of it was such a perfect metaphor for how bad vanilla menu design is because you just keep searching and searching through layers of unorganized data without ever finding what actually matters which is exactly why I switched to the mod system entirely — also worth checking out CraftStorage if you want more advanced slots but that's overkill for most people.

I used to use a mod called InventoryResort and it was great but I think they haven't updated it in like three years so it breaks with the new hotfix — honestly the whole UI system is fundamentally flawed because it doesn't account for how fast you need to access items during combat which is insane if you think about it. This actually reminds me of my brother's basement where he used to have this ridiculous workshop setup and everything was organized by color coding but there were like fifty different types of screwdriver and he couldn't find the one flathead every single time we worked on something together because the system just didn't make sense for actual use. We ended up tearing it all apart and putting everything in a tool chest with labeled bins which took about four hours but saved us probably hundreds over the course of years, so I guess that is the lesson — any inventory system that looks good organized but doesn't work under pressure is just theater. Anyway if you want to try my current setup send me a DM and I can drop the download link for the config file since it's not on Nexus right now

I used to hate this too before I found a small mod called QuickSorter — it just rebinds sorting shortcuts and adds a search bar which makes everything way faster during combat. Not super flashy but genuinely useful once you get used to the keybinds.

I honestly don't think any single mod has fixed it because the fundamental issue is that the menu was designed for a game where you pause to manage things, which defeats your whole combat-flow use case and I tried the Inventory Organizer by Drebz but it just adds more categories and my eyes started glazing over after ten minutes of trying to decide whether to put items in weapons or gear bags because everything is technically both depending on how long you're out from town. Speaking of being out from town — this reminds me so much of that one camping trip with Sarah and Mike where I lost every single piece of gear except for my phone which was useless without service and we ended up walking six miles back to the trailhead in just socks because the tent poles broke and neither of them had a tool kit but there's something about being genuinely disorganized that creates this specific kind of stress, not like normal disorganization where you can manage it with systems but genuine chaos where everything is lost at once. That was actually probably the only time I felt truly panicky in nature because usually I have my bag packed by color code and a backup for every important item which sounds ridiculous to people who don't over-prepare but if something goes wrong that preparation is what keeps you sane while everyone else starts making decisions based on desperation. Anyway — seriously, try the SortMaster mod or just make your own config file since there are probably a dozen of those floating around and most of them work fine once you spend twenty minutes tweaking it yourself which I know isn't ideal but that's basically how this game works; everything is a work in progress even the menus.

I found one last week that works really well, it moves all your consumables to a separate tab
