Oh man, I went down this rabbit hole about six months ago and there is no going back — once you've heard a well-lubed tactile switch click, stock membrane keyboards just sound like garbage now. Lubing Holy Pandas was the right move though because those are notoriously scratchy straight out of the box.

For my daily driver I actually swapped to Boba U4Ts lately and they have this really clean thole bump that feels super snappy without being aggressive. The only downside is finding good lube Krytox 205g0 — I ended up buying a gallon just for one board because it's better than the tiny sample sizes everywhere else.

Holy Pandas + Krytox 205g0 is a classic combo for a reason — that creamy thock is addicting once you've heard it. If you want to branch out from tactile, try:

• Linear: Cherry MX Black Ink V2s (smooth and weighty) or Gateron Oil Kings
• Tactile with more pop: Boba U4T (tighter bump than Holy Pandas, less mushy on the bottom out)
• Budget cream king: Akko Cream Blue — not great for writing long documents but insane value

One tip: lube your springs too. The rattle is a small thing until it's constant and annoying.
