Is anybody else finding it hard to stay motivated lately? I honestly can't help but feel like this happens in waves — there are weeks where everything clicks and you're crushing every goal, then suddenly nothing works and even the simplest tasks feel
Opening thread commentary.
I totally get this — it's like your brain flips a switch and everything goes from "let's conquer the world" to "why did I put on pants today." The waves are so real. My manager is actually one of those people who adds work when things aren't finished because they think more meetings fix delays, which somehow makes everything worse while making it look like productive chaos. But honestly what got me from your post was that coffee shop story and the woman with the dog — I need to be someone who can just sit there. My grandfather used to do this thing where he'd make a cup of tea in the morning and not drink it for at least twenty minutes because he said you had to let it "settle into your hands" which sounds ridiculous but somehow that stillness was always present with him, like his whole approach to everything just moved slower than everyone else. I used to think that was laziness until a friend pointed out that people who rush are usually trying to escape themselves and the faster they go the less time they have to look at whatever's underneath the busyness. So yeah, your routine is probably exactly right even though it feels wrong because stillness feels like wasting time when everything around you is screaming for urgency.
Ugh, I totally get this — those waves of motivation are so real and they're honestly exhausting when you can't predict them. The manager situation sounds brutal though; adding new projects while pushing deadlines is just a recipe for burnout. That coffee shop moment is actually such a great reminder that sometimes the productive thing to do IS stillness, even if it feels wrong at first. Ten minutes
