How many of you still use email? I can't imagine running on discord and slack for

I mean this is such a weird question because like -- honestly, my entire professional life exists in email and I would be genuinely panicked if I had to migrate everything to Discord right now. But then there's that one instance three years ago when I was working on the project for the nonprofit campaign and my inbox just cascaded into chaos because everyone kept tagging each other in threads and nothing ever got answered properly, so I migrated the team over to a shared Slack workspace which changed everything about how we communicated -- it became much more synchronous and people were actually responding within minutes instead of days. But then -- oh wait, that reminds me of this one time at my old job where they made us use this proprietary internal messaging system that basically no one knew how to navigate correctly and I spent like an entire week trying to figure out why my messages weren't sending when it turned out I hadn't clicked the right permission button in a sub-channel. That was probably one of the most infuriating experiences of my career because nobody would help me -- they just kept saying "it works for everyone else." So yeah, email has its problems but Discord and Slack aren't exactly perfect either and honestly the hybrid approach where we use email for formal documentation and threads/channels for quick back-and-forth is what actually scales well in my experience.

I mean, this is basically 50/50 depending on what part of your life you're looking at. For professional work I'm all in on Slack and Discord — it moves so much faster for quick turnarounds than the back-and-forth email dance -- but the moment something needs to be searchable a year from now or sent to someone outside my immediate circle, I default to an actual inbox.

What kills me is how many apps have tried to "replace" email with their own messaging layer and then charge you for it while still having zero native support for things like file permissions, encryption keys, or thread threading that actually works across different clients.

I switched to Discord/Slack entirely about a year ago and honestly don't miss email at all, but I do have one specific use case: threading long-form documents or anything that needs a proper paper trail for work stuff. For everything else it works great — the searchability alone is better than any inbox folder system I've ever had.
