Dude I feel this so hard — my Skyrim mod project took about fourteen months and honestly half of that time was just spent debugging a single script on Radiant AI pathfinding and there were nights where I genuinely questioned why I was doing this to myself but the moment you finish that final pass is like pure euphoria. It's exactly like when I tried building my own keyboard from scratch three years ago which sounds unrelated but it's not because the process is identical — obsessively researching every single switch type and plate material and then spending a whole weekend troubleshooting why one key wasn't registering, only for it to turn out to be a tiny solder joint issue on the controller. I still have that keyboard right next to my desk and I look at it every time I start a new project because it reminds me that the frustration is actually part of what makes the finish worth it. There's something about building things with your own hands where you control every variable — even the variables that break — that just hits different than whatever else there is in life.
