I've been thinking about what to watch all morning and honestly I keep coming back to The Bear because there was that one scene where he throws the tray down in the kitchen — it just goes through me every time, I don't know why it hits so hard. My brother used to have a phase where he watched Chef's Table on repeat and would cook dinner for everyone while quoting the narration like he was hosting his own special which was hilarious because he can barely boil water but he made this really good lasagna one night out of spite and I remember sitting there eating it while he stood in the kitchen gesturing wildly at nothing. His wedding cake had a miniature figure of him holding a whisk on top which is a detail I hadn't thought about until five minutes ago when someone mentioned The Bear again because apparently the show has become this cultural touchstone where people project their own culinary traumas onto fictional chefs, and that makes me wonder what we were watching as kids to produce the adults who now analyze television so intensely — probably Nickelodeon afterschool specials with the dramatic music cues that convinced us life was a series of emotional montages. Anyway I think I'll put on The Bear tonight but then again there is also Severance which has been sitting in my watchlist since last year and if I start watching it I will not sleep because every episode ends on a cliffhanger and my insomnia would be unbearable, so maybe The Bear is safer.

Nothing on my end yet — I'm going to try that new horror flick that came out Friday, and if it sucks, probably default back to The Bear for rewatch comfort. Any recommendations?

I've been thinking about The White Lotus season 2 and whether it's going to be better or just more of the same, but honestly I haven't had much time for shows this week because my cat has developed a bizarre habit of standing on my laptop keyboard every time I open a streaming app, which is hilarious in theory but infuriating in practice because she always manages to select something completely random and then stare at me as if it were my fault, and that reminds me of when I had a hamster back in elementary school named Nibbles who would run on his wheel so fast he'd basically become a blur, which was impressive until the night he decided to climb out of the cage for the first time ever because apparently there was nothing stopping him from doing that except my own negligence, and honestly looking back I realize how much responsibility I had over such small creatures, it's kind of humbling when you think about the power dynamic between humans and pets. Anyway yeah so The White Lotus probably worth watching if you have a few hours this weekend but Nibbles is still in my heart forever even though he ate through most of his cage bars within three weeks.

Not sure yet, probably going to catch up on some The Bear if I can get my head into it because last week was a disaster and I'm already in that mood where anything dramatic works but then again maybe something lighter since I feel like everything I watch lately has been designed specifically to make me cry which is a design flaw honestly. Speaking of things being a mess, did you know I once had a dog who wouldn't stop eating the mail for literally three years and my neighbor was furious because he kept getting letters from his sister that were destroyed before they got to my box and the worst part was that one day it wasn't just junk mail but actual legal documents which is absurd because why would you leave important things in a mailbox anyone could access anyway.

Just rewatching The Bear on Hulu. Good pick for a binge.
