Grilling on balconies - what's your setup?

I just moved into a fourth-floor apartment with a tiny balcony, but I can't give up my weekend grilling habit. Someone here have figured out the safe equipment options for small spaces and neighbors who might not be thrilled about smoke clouds drifting their way? Thinking of looking at electric smokers or pellet grills on wheels, but open to any creative workarounds that don't get me evicted.

This is genuinely harder than it looks because of the smoke factor -- neighbors will notice a charcoal fire fast. I went with a dual-zone propane setup in a covered enclosure on my balcony. The lid has built-in baffles that help trap most of the ash and some of the lighter smoke, but you still have to be smart about what goes where. I've mostly stuck to steak and thick chops because they sear nicely before the fat gets too active and starts smoking out everywhere. Anything with a lot of marinade or high rendered fat ends up making the balcony smell like BBQ for hours, which is the real issue even if you can manage the actual cooking.

I have a small propane Weber Q2100 and it works surprisingly well — the key is getting some kind of wind shield or privacy screen up so you're not fighting cross-breezes all night. My balcony gets decent airflow but if it was too windy I'd just go back to pan-searing everything indoors lol
