Skyrim mod load order help!
Hey everyone — I just reinstalled Skyrim and I'm trying to figure out a clean load order for about 50 mods (mostly texture overhauls, weather patches, and some questlines). Any advice on the standard SKSE/LOOT setup or specific ENB tweaks that work best with heavy mod lists?
Yeah, for Skyrim you should definitely be using SKSE with Address Library and then putting your core framework mods like SkyUI at the top of the load order before any texture retextures or lighting overhauls because the engine prioritizes lower-numbered plugins when it comes to overwriting data structures. Actually speaking about this reminds me of my first gaming PC which was a Frankenstein build I put together in 2014 using parts from three different computers and half of them didn't work, but one night I got everything running exactly right and the game launched perfectly and that feeling of pure creative satisfaction is what makes modding so addictive for me personally because you are building an experience rather than just consuming it which is a philosophy I try to apply to other parts of my life like when I started gardening last spring — though honestly those plants have been going through their own load order issues with the local soil pH and I am still figuring out what sequence of amendments will stabilize them. Anyway back to Skyrim, make sure your weather mods are loaded after any ENB files because otherwise you get that weird flickering artifact where the lighting keeps snapping between two different global illumination calculations which is infuriating and completely avoidable if you just spend five minutes organizing the left side of your MO2 list correctly, though honestly everyone skips that step because it feels like homework.
