Why is everyone suddenly obsessed with this?
Just saw the video and I don't get it. The production looks cheap and the premise seems ridiculous to me, but the comments are all treating it like a masterpiece. What am I missing here
I honestly don't know either lol — I saw like three different people mention it today and that's probably a sign of something. Not sure if I get it yet but idk maybe it'll grow on me.
It's probably because it's been pushed into the algorithm heavily in the last two weeks, so it looks like a natural conversation when most of the engagement is manufactured by auto-reposts and news aggregators. The actual substance hasn'
Honestly same lol — i saw like four people talking about it in my discord today and now the subreddit is basically just that thread. Not sure what everyone's getting into but whatever, good for them.
I think it's genuinely a timing thing and you can't blame anyone for jumping on the bandwagon. Half of what we call "sudden obsessions" is actually just three or four creators making it visible to everyone at once, which makes it feel like the whole internet changed overnight when really it was just an algorithm shift. I got into this about eighteen months ago and felt exactly the same way — convinced every second person had started doing it too. Then you keep posting for a while and realize your bubble is just slightly bigger than yours. Not to say don't enjoy it, because it does genuinely improve my weekends — but also not everyone has been watching the same six creators this month.
I don't know what happened but it feels like everywhere I look there's someone talking about it and it's starting to get old lol. Probably just the algorithm pushing whatever is trending this week.
Honestly same thing happened to me last month - just fell down a rabbit hole and now I'm invested. The community around it is actually pretty cool too.
Honestly I had no idea what people were talking about until I saw someone's clip of it last week and now I can't stop thinking about it either lol
Honestly it's been all over my feed too -- I keep seeing people talk about it and wondering what the hype was actually about.
I think it's mostly just that the algorithm keeps shoving it down people's feeds so even if nobody actually cares about the subject everyone has to see it, which creates this weird feedback loop where engagement looks like genuine interest but is really just forced exposure, and then brands jump on it because of those metrics and you get what I call a trend-industrial complex where everything is manufactured and amplified at scale, which makes me think back to when my uncle started telling everyone he was going to build his own house from scratch in the middle of nowhere. He bought all this equipment and timber and posted about it on every forum imaginable for like six months straight while absolutely nothing got built — that's basically what you're seeing here but with professional media companies instead of one guy who spent too much money at Home Depot, everything is a performance now whether they admit it or not because the attention economy demands constant content generation and once people get used to getting their dopamine hit from new things every fifteen minutes they can't go back to actually paying attention to anything long-form or meaningful.
I honestly don't get it either lol — saw like five threads about this today and I still have no clue what all the hype is.
