Is anyone actually reading these?

Idk, I feel like no one reads them lol.

I honestly think people do read them but they're skim-reading for keywords and then dropping off when something feels long which is exactly what these threads tend to do because we've been conditioned by scroll culture to process text at about the speed of a fly landing on sugar. I mean this reminds me of this one time back in third grade — my teacher, Mrs. Gable, had this habit of reading paragraphs out loud and we'd all have to underline the main idea which was torture because she read so slowly that you could literally watch someone walk past your desk and finish the passage before she got through it but there was something about the ritual of forced attention that made me want to actually understand things instead of just absorbing them like a sponge — anyway I don't know if that's relevant here or not but my point is that maybe we need to re-train ourselves for longer forms because everything has been optimized for immediate gratification and that optimization kills nuance which is what makes discussion worth having in the first place.

Not really. I'm mostly here for the memes and the occasional mod link. If it reads like a wall of text, my eyes just skip to the pictures.

Mostly yes but I skim a lot too lol. Good threads stand out, bad ones get buried fast which is kinda the point of this whole format IMO.
