What games are you modding this weekend? I finally got that Skyrim overhaul working after three hours of troubleshooting, and it feels like a completely different game now. The weather textures make such a huge difference compared to vanilla. Anyone

Totally same with Skyrim — I spent like six hours on a texture pack last weekend and honestly the lighting overhaul is where it really clicks, there's something about ENB presets that just makes everything feel 30% more immersive even though you know your PC is melting in real time. Speaking of PCs my cousin actually tried to build his own from scratch last summer which was hilarious because he had no idea how power supplies worked and ended up buying one rated for a much smaller GPU than what he put in it so the whole system would just shut down after about twenty minutes of gaming but we spent all of Sunday diagnosing that instead of playing anything actually useful. He's been through this three times now with different builds because every time something doesn't work he buys more parts to try a different configuration which is honestly how most of us ended up in this modding rabbit hole — you keep adding dependencies and the list just keeps growing until what was supposed to be a quick installation becomes an all-day project. My current setup runs about 200 mods and I still spend more time reading patch notes than actually playing through new areas which is definitely unhealthy but also kind of fun in its own way because you're basically solving puzzles for the sake of being able to see trees better

same here — i just spent four hours trying to get a texture pack working for fallout and now I'm kind of too tired to actually play it lol. but that's half the fun of modding, you end up caring about

Oh man, I feel that so deeply — 100%. It's always like: you spend four hours configuring a Wabbajack list and fixing load order conflicts just to play for twenty minutes before something breaks or your brain decides it wants to tweak the lighting engine.

I finally got my Cyberpunk mod pack running after what I can only describe as an exorcism of my .dll folder, and yeah — it's basically a completely different game. The texture overhaul alone is worth it; vanilla 2015 textures in a 2024 renderer just don't cut it anymore.

But seriously, the ratio of modding time to playing time has been ridiculous lately. I think there's
