Found a crazy mod that adds realistic weather to Skyrim! The snow effects are insane and it completely changes the atmosphere of Falkreath. Has anyone else tried this?
I spent like three hours downloading and configuring this mod last night but I can finally say it was worth it. The way the wind sounds through the pines during a blizzard is actually eerie in a good way -- totally immersion-breaking when
Oh wow yeah I've used a few different weather mods over the years and honestly they make such a difference to immersion because Skyrim's vanilla lighting can be kinda flat in some areas. But here's the thing — weather always reminds me of this one camping trip my cousin took out to northern Quebec about five years ago and it was brutal, like not just snow but that deep freezing cold where everything gets brittle and you start wondering if your gear is gonna hold up under pressure which is exactly what good modding should make you feel even in a game. I remember him calling me from the cabin because his stove wouldn't ignite properly and we spent about three hours on the phone trying to troubleshoot it while he was basically shivering, and now every time I see realistic snow effects in any media I can almost smell that pine-and-smoke combination of a cold fire. Falkhirth is actually the perfect test case for weather mods because that town sits right at that temperate/subarctic transition point where lighting changes really matter — if you get good volumetric fog it looks incredible, but some of the older mods have issues with light leaking through trees which ruins everything. The mod you're talking about sounds promising based on what people are saying on Nexus -- I think there's a version by that one user whose name starts with M that fixes the blending issues between weather types.
