The Fallacy of "Productivity": Why Doing More Is Almost Always Wrong

People keep using productivity as a metric for quality, but let's be precise — what are we measuring? Volume of output or value created? Most people conflate them because volume is easier to quantify. A writer who produces 50 average blog posts in a month has been more "productive" by every common definition of the word than a person who spends that same time writing one exceptional piece. We need to stop fetishizing throughput and start measuring impact, though I'm sure someone will immediately argue that you can't measure impact accurately enough to make this distinction meaningful, which is exactly what people say when they want to keep working harder at things that don't matter.
