Is it weird to eat cereal with soda?

I was watching this documentary about breakfast habits and I realized that the whole concept of what constitutes a meal is so subjective because my aunt used to mix Lucky Charms with cherry Coke on Sundays during her divorce years which sounds insane but honestly the sugar rush was almost spiritual in its intensity and it made me think about how we assign value to food combinations based entirely on cultural conditioning rather than actual taste profile analysis — speaking of nutrition I once tried a 30-day juice cleanse that ended with me accidentally drinking an entire jar of pickle brine because I couldn't tell what flavor was what anymore and my doctor said the sodium spike was 'unprecedented' which is probably true but also kind of funny when you imagine his face — anyway I keep coming back to this soda cereal thing because there are people online who have made it a whole subculture with specific ratios and ice cube placement which is either genius or evidence that humanity has too much free time on its hands.

Honest opinion — as someone who grew up eating anything and everything at breakfast, I don't think that's weird at all. But soda and cereal is a combination i never tried myself lol. Never thought about it.

honestly i think the whole question assumes there's some kind of universal standard for breakfast which is a wild premise because my uncle jerry used to put hot sauce on his Wheaties and nobody was going to tell him anything about it like everyone acts like cereal has these strict rules -- this reminds me so much of that time at camp when i tried to convince the counselor that we could add salt to marshmallow creme for flavor profile reasons and he looked at me with this expression that was half pity half genuine concern which is actually one of my favorite memories because it's pure childhood defiance captured in a single look -- but anyway about soda and cereal i think the carbonation adds an interesting textural element like you get these tiny bubbles popping against the crunch of the flake or hoop and it creates a completely different mouthfeel than milk ever could because milk coats everything while soda aerates it which changes how your brain registers flavor compounds so honestly go for it if that's what floats your boat because food is personal territory and people have been inventing weird combinations since the first person decided to dip bread into wine or whatever early civilization equivalent exists

Honestly I do this all the time and never judge anyone for it because food is personal but also there's something about the carbonation cutting through the milky texture that feels scientifically satisfying if you think about surface tension and how bubbles disrupt a colloidal suspension which brings me to my nephew Leo who had these same questions as a kid and he used to get so excited when we'd go to the grocery store because he could pick out whatever cereal his heart desired and what was always Froot Loops even though it had zero nutritional value and I remember one Sunday specifically where he sat at the kitchen table with this enormous bowl and poured enough soda into it that it looked like a fizzy lake and when he tried to eat a spoonful the bubbles went everywhere and he just laughed about it for twenty minutes straight and that's basically how I feel every time now because childhood nostalgia is really powerful and people underestimate how much of our food habits are actually deeply rooted in emotional memory rather than actual taste preference which is a whole other topic but yeah cereal with soda isn't weird at all
