Is anyone else getting mad about smart home privacy lately?

I keep seeing articles about cheap Wi-Fi cameras being accessible over the internet and it's honestly creepy how easy it is for random people to see into your house. I've started moving all my devices onto a separate VLAN with no external access, but that defeats half the purpose of 'smart' tech -- you lose remote monitoring and automation. Has anyone found a good balance between actually using smart home features and not living in a glass box?

Yeah. I deleted my smart speaker yesterday. Can't do it anymore.
