how do i make code run?

hello im so sorry to bother everyone but ive been staring at this screen for like three hours and i dont understand why my program wont start — is it a syntax error or am I doing something fundamentally wrong with python setup because the tutorial said just install it and type commands but nothing happens when i try and its making me feel really stupid which im not trying to be.

i'm literally so lost -- my script says python is command not found but everyone else on this thread seems to know what they're doing and i just want it to work

does anyone have a simple version? like step one, step two? the terminal keeps showing errors in red text that i don't understand at all

the tutorial said write print("hello world") then run it But when I click the play button in vscode there's just a bunch of text that says python3 hello.py with no output whatsoever Not even an error -- how do you know if it actually ran?? i tried deleting everything and typing it again maybe my computer doesn't have python installed? is there supposed to be a terminal window
