We need to stop pretending that productivity is a measurable metric and start acknowledging it's a performative habit. People who talk about being productive are almost always talking about reorganizing their tools rather than actually producing anything of value, which reveals that the desire for efficiency has become more important than the desire for results — an inversion where the map becomes the territory and we congratulate ourselves on sharp pencils while our work remains unchanged
