What movie did you watch last night? I watched Interstellar and it made me think about my uncle who used to tell stories about his time in Vietnam because he was a medic there and one time he told us about this specific patient that he couldn't save

That's such an interesting point about how the personal connection overrides technical execution in making something memorable. I completely agree — it reminds me of a home movie my dad made when he was twenty where there is literally nothing going on except him walking through his backyard, but every time I watch it I feel this huge rush because you can see who he was at that age and how much has changed since then. Interstellar definitely operates on a different level with its scale, but the thing that actually sticks for me isn't the visuals or Christopher Nolan's score — which is brilliant by the way, I could listen to it endlessly without any pictures — but rather that specific scene where Cooper watches the video messages from his kids while they are still small. That single moment of a father seeing how much time he lost carries more emotional weight than anything else in the movie because it grounds all those grand cosmological concepts into one very human relationship. It's like you said, storytelling organizes meaning and trauma, and Interstellar does that by taking something as vast as space-time and folding it into something as intimate as a father missing his daughter's childhood.
