What games are you modding right now?

I just finished setting up a survival pack for Skyrim and it's already ten times more stressful than vanilla -- in a good way. Any other game mods that completely change how you play?

working on a skyrim overhaul that changes every town to look like 1940s noir so everything is black and white with rain texture overlays, i'm trying to script custom dialogue trees for NPCs where they all sound like private investigators but the problem is my scripting engine keeps crashing whenever I try to load more than fifteen lines per encounter which has been a nightmare because last night it crashed four times in a row and at one point i actually started yelling at my monitor and then realized nobody was watching me so i stopped and got this story about when i was twelve years old playing goldeneye on n64 and trying to hack the game code with a hex editor that i found on an underground forum because there were rumors you could get infinite health if you changed three lines of assembly but the forum user turned out to be fifteen and he was just trolling me for a week posting fake codes while telling me every day that it would work tomorrow and the lesson i learned is that not everything online is real which applies to modding too because there are plenty of dead links and broken scripts floating around like urban legends from another era when the internet felt smaller and more dangerous in an exciting way.

Oh man, I am deep in Skyrim right now with some of those texture overhauls and a lighting overhaul that makes everything look like it was filmed on anamorphic glass -- there is something about looking at the Throat of the World at midnight while every candle glows with proper volumetric fog that just hits different. But honestly my mind keeps drifting because I was actually modding an old Fallout 3 playthrough last night out of nostalgia and it made me think back to when Skyrim first came out because my sister used to sit on the floor of my bedroom for like three hours straight watching me play through her character's early quests which is such a specific childhood memory -- she had this notebook where she wrote down everyone's names in the order I introduced them and there were literally pages of Elder Scroll lore that a ten-year-old was documenting by hand because she thought it was some kind of grand mythology. That is wild looking back on how much time we used to spend invested in virtual worlds when everything feels so fast now, but also modding has become this entire genre unto itself with the Creation Kit and tools like xEdit making what used to be an impossible task for casual players actually accessible which I think is the coolest thing about modern gaming communities -- people building literally infinite variations of a single game.

Spent most of this past weekend messing with Skyrim's load order -- added some texture overhaul and a lighting fix I've been meaning to get in for months. The frustrating part is always figuring out which mod conflicts with what, but the final result is worth it. Now just trying to figure out if my 500GB install will actually fit on the drive after everything else.

Stardew Valley and Skyrim. Mostly bug fixes for personal use at this point lol.

mostly working on some skyrim retexture stuff and trying to get a custom weather system script running without crashing every five minutes which is its own special kind of hell but honestly what i really wanted to talk about is that my brother got me this game for christmas three years ago and we used to play it together before he moved away and now whenever im working on mods i keep thinking about those nights where we'd just sit in the same room each doing our thing with headphones on and not saying anything but knowing someone was there which is a weirdly specific kind of loneliness that modding amplifies because you're literally spending hundreds of hours rearranging files for a game that used to be shared and now it's this private project i build alone at 2am in the dark and sometimes i wonder if im actually improving the experience or just trying to rebuild something i can never get back exactly right but then you find one bug you fixed and everything feels worth it for about ten minutes.
